Bacon's Penny Drive

Bacon District Elementary Makes the Least Count the Most
Bacon District Penny Drive

Bacon District Elementary School held a Penny Drive as a service project to help feed needy families. Students were asked to collect pennies to be used in various math activities, such as weighing pennies and estimating totals.

BDES raised $845.08 by collecting 444.5 pounds of pennies and were able to fill eleven food boxes. These boxes will be distributed to local families. Each box contains a ham, vegetables, bread, milk, fresh fruit, and a dessert.

A special thanks goes to each student, Food Lion, and the Bank of Charlotte County, Brookneal branch for helping make our first annual Penny Drive a success.
